Hello all! We are safe and sound in Roatan. We had an amazingly easy flight with no problems even with Midas! We got off the airplane and were in the little airport in line for customs/imigration and Justin said "look there's a little girl playing with Midas". He was just up ahead in his crate by baggage claim. I was so relieved! When we got through to the other side of the airport, there was a group with a man and woman in dress clothes, so we knew they were Jehovah's Witnesses. Brother and sister Thompson were there to pick us up! (yey) And there was another couple and they're daughter that were therewith them that were leaving as we were coming, but they said they will be back in 3 weeks. Isn't it amazing how you can travel thousands of miles away from home to a foreign country you've never been to and be greeted by people you love and trust? That is just so awesome to me. So we were off. We stopped and dropped off our luggage and went back out to grocery shop and get cell & internet service. Then David & Jana had us for dinner. We have included pictures of our apartment. We didn't take an outside one yet. It is a little nicer and more roomy than our place in Belize. And no scary incedents with roadents or insects yet. We do have the friendly geicos running around, but that is ok. (Midas doesn't think so)
Today we went to the Kingdom Hall in Oak Ridge (which is on the east side of the island) for the meeting. They just had the c.o. visit and he is encouraging them to have all the Sunday meetings in english up there. So we are probably going to be going there, which is what we were hoping. It sounds like they need a lot of help on that side of the island. Today there was only six of us that were publishers at the meeting and 15 or 16 total. Justin was chairman, did sound, and he read watchtower. Which was kinda rough for him seeing as he lost his voice the day before we left. But he made it through with just a couple squeeky moments. The village of Oak Ridge is mainly on the water which is really cool! We are supposed to be going with a brother and sister who live up that way, and are begging us to come help them, on Friday to preach by boat. They do that regularly. How cool! Well, that is all I have for now. But we have only been here for a day and a half. I have a feeling more exciting things will be happening soon. And for anyone who happens to google "Roatan" and thinks 'wow! that is where they're living!' I got news for you. I haven't seen anything that looks like that yet. The areas we've been look like Central America. But hopfully at some point we can venture to where those pictures were taken. Till next time, Adios Amigos!

First comment...YESSSSS! Glad to hear you had an uneventful trip. We're thinking of you and just know that you're secretly living a life of luxury and brushing shoulders w/ celebrities! Ha ha.

Hi guys, first off, I love your title,"home is where you make it". It looks like you're off to a good start making your new home. Apartment looks bright and comfy. Preaching by boat! Well, have to say you make us a little bit jealous there but in a good way, in the way that I wish we could all be there experiencing it with you but since we can't you'll just have to tell us about it and share pics. Have a great first week!
ReplyDeleteHey kids, I just realized it's our 36th anniversary today by looking at the date. I'm talking to Gene right now, at work, to let him know and he forgot, too. Makes us feel old when you can't remember. Gene says hello. So happy you made it safe. The Kingdom Hall is cute and so it your apartment. Looks like Justin is at right at home in his bare feet, guess that mean no critters around. Hope you have success in the ministry. Keep on sending us updates, which you will and we'll keep you updated, too. Love you both, Sally & Gene
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking time to update us all. Your new place looks very homey, very happy to see you all settling in! It is amazing to have such wonderful brothers and sisters worldwide making sure you feel comfortable and at home. Love you both- hope your boat adventures are fruitful!

Hello,Hello. We are two very proud grandparents. We really enjoy reading and seeing your blog. It's sounds like you are going to have a few bible studies already. Good going. Midas looks like he's moved right in. Make sure you keep him on a leash, we don't want to find someone enjoying dog for dinner. We're glad to see you enjoying yourself, but be careful. You're in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Grammy and Pappy
ReplyDeletePS How did you prepare you chicken???
